My name is Michael McDowall and I have been a certified educator in British Columbia since 2010. I was born and raised in the Alberni Valley on Vancouver Island. I attended and graduated from Vancouver Island University for both my Bachelor of Arts (2005) and my Bachelor of Education (2009). In 2018, I also started a Graduate Program in the field of Educational Technology through the University of British Columbia and am set to finish the program in December 2021.
In the fall of 2014, I moved with my family to Prince Rupert to take a teaching position, where I was part of the Roosevelt Park Elementary staff until June 2021. In September 2021 I moved to Prince Rupert Middle where I currently continue to be an educator.
I am also a strong believer in being an active participant within any community I live. In 2015 I joined the Prince Rupert Salmon Enhancement Society to help preserve local salmon stocks and habitat. Also in 2015, I joined the Port Edward Volunteer Fire Department where I now the rank of 'Deputy Chief'.
